Why I Love Reishi Mushroom & Gut Health For Menopause
Gut health for menopause is so important! So in this video I share why I stopped taking Reishi mushroom for a few weeks as part of a gut health protocol - and why I was SO HAPPY to be able to start taking Reishi again.
I also share why Reishi mushroom is one of my favorite Chinese Tonic Herbs and why gut health is so important for balancing hormones naturally (especially during & after menopause.)
Gut Health For Menopause
Inside your gut is one of the main places where your hormones are made, modified, and activated.
If you want to learn more about how 7 major hormones including
All rely on a healthy gut for proper functioning - read this blog article on how the right diet and a healthy digestive system are one of the most important things you can do to balance your hormones naturally.
In this video we'll cover how an elimination diet can be a great tool for solving gut health problems.
Step one in gut health issues is to find the underlying cause. If you have an infection or other underlying root cause, you'll want to discover and resolve that first.
Then - if you're left with a damaged intestinal lining, leaky gut, or an imbalance of your intestinal flora.. The elimination diet can be useful for the next step, because it can help you avoid foods you're reacting to! This means your gut gets a chance to calm down - decreasing bloating and inflammation - so it can heal & repair that intestinal lining.
In this video I'll explain how I've been using the elimination diet as a step in resolving a gut health issue, and that this is why I was off some of my usual herbs (including Reishi mushroom) for a few weeks.
And why I'm so incredibly happy to be able to start taking my Reishi again.
Why I Love Reishi Mushroom For Immune Support
Reishi is supportive in many ways.
One of the big ones for me is the way Reishi supports the immune system. It turns out having a problem with your gut health can compromise your immune function!
When I was dealing with this, taking Reishi mushroom as part of a customized Chinese herbal combination helped me to recover my immune function and keep it strong even when it was at a huge disadvantage.
But Reishi does much more than strengthen the immune system... Reishi is known as an immune system modulator, which means it helps fine tune the functioning of an under-active OR overactive immune system.
Reishi is known as one of the great "protective" herbs. Partly because it help keep your immune system functioning at it's more efficient and effective, and partly because certain components in Reishi have been shown to have powerful anti-tumor properties. So to me, taking Reishi regularly tips the odds in my favor in terms of staying healthy long term!
Why I Love Reishi Mushroom For Mood Support
It turns out having a compromised gut also affects your mood. And Reishi mushroom is very supportive to the mood and the stress response. Again - keeping things stable when they were being pushed off balance by a hidden health issue.
But Reishi does more than help stabilize the stress response. Reishi is what's called a Shen Tonic, which means it's known as a strong supporter of spiritual growth & intelligence!
Reishi Blood Sugar Support
Reishi has been shown to help regulate and stabilize blood sugar levels, which can be a huge health factor (and a huge metabolism and weight loss factor) for women during menopause.
Reishi For Cardiovascular Support
Reishi is widely used in Asia to improve the cardiovascular system. It's known to help lower HDL (the "bad" cholesterol) and reduce excess fatty acids. It's even been found to prevent and treat hardening of the arteries, angina and shortness of breath associated with coronary heart disease.
Reishi For Liver Support
Reishi is known as being supportive of powerfully detoxifying the cells and tissues of the body- while enhancing the function of, and protecting, the liver.
Because the liver is so important for the metabolism of estrogen - AND - for healthy processing of fats & cholesterol... Reishi again provides important underlying support for women during & after menopause when both of these fuctions may need extra support.
Reishi Loves Chocolate (and so do I)
Extremely high antioxidant foods like cacao (pure, unprocessed chocolate) may potentiate "super mushrooms" like Reishi. So taking Reishi and Cacao together may mean you get even more benefit from the Reishi Mushroom.
To me this means - bring on the chocolate! I love making a hot drink with herbal tea, something creamy (coconut butter or almond milk,) Reishi powder, and cacao powder- just pop it in the blender for a few seconds. Or I'll add Reishi powder and cacao powder to my smoothie!
Where do I get my Reishi?
